Prayer – Zeke’s Wisdom

Wisdom From Zeke, at the Farm in Owl Hollow, Tennessee

Howdy folks.  Well we finally got a good rain yesterday for several hours, a slow and steady watering that soaked into the ground.  That possum’s on the stump.  Oh, I’m sorry, I keep forgetting some of you folks don’t understand our southern sayings.  I was just sayin the rain we got was as good as it gets.

It was too wet to work in the garden or our fields so I decided to work on one of our tractors in the shed.  There’s always maintenance to be done on our equipment.  God has blessed me with the skill to do most of the repairs which saves us a ton of money.

Today, it was smokin hot.  I saw a bird blowing on a worm to cool it before he ate it.  I said he, could have been a she.  The heat is hard on our crops.  Just prayin we can make it a few more weeks, then it will start cooling off.  I enjoy cool weather, but Lizzy gets a sweater when the temperature drops below 85 degrees.  Her thermometer goes up and down.  Some days she gets cold and other days she gets hot flashes.  I told her one time her hot flashes were all in her head.  By the way guys, I don’t advise sayin that to your wife is she is having hot flashes.  Just go with it.

Lizzy and I went into the General Store in Owl Hollow after the rain.  She needed to pick up a few things.  I needed to get some gas for Nellie, our 1960 Chevy pick-up.  She is reliable, and has a 6 cylinder motor and is a stick shift.  Not interested in the new ones.

I was having a soda with Sid while Lizzy was getting her things with Else.  Sid and Else own the general store.  Our friend Claude came in and I could tell something was wrong.  He said their daughter was have some health issues and was going to need surgery.  Claude, Alice Ann his wife and their daughter Celia Ann goes to our Church.  Lizzy and I talked later – we believe they are all believers.  I told Claude that Lizzy and I will be praying for Celia Ann and her doctors, that they would be able to take care of her problem.  Claude did not tell us what the issue was, and I am okay with that.  God knows.

Claude said something that surprised me.  He said I don’t know if God hears and answers prayers.  I said to him in a loving way that God is concerned about everything that goes on in our lives and He wants the best for us.  He wants us to talk to Him and share our concerns and feelings.  God always hears and answers our prayers.  He may say wait, no or yes.  It may not be answered like we want, but it will always be the best for us.  We may not understand His answer this side of eternity, but we must trust Him.

I told Claude that we serve a living God and He cares.  Claude thanked Sid and me and said that meant a lot to Him.  I said we would see them Sunday at Church.  He said they would be there.

Until the next time,

God Bless – Zeke and Lizzy
